In line with the celebration of its 10th Anniversary, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) launched the Promoting Financial Literacy and Young Talent Competition in December. The competition aims at creating and enhancing awareness of Financial Services amongst the youth and is meant for secondary school, undergraduate and postgraduate students divided in to three different categories.
The theme of the Competition is: Sustaining the Development of the Financial Services in Mauritius and is open to secondary and tertiary students. Participants will be classified under three categories: Category 1: Secondary Level; Category 2: Undergraduate Level; Category 3: Post-Graduate Level.
“Knowledge and awareness of the functioning of financial markets, including products, processes and procedures and enhancing scope and level of investor participation in the Mauritian economic development is crucial. For Mauritius to emerge as the financial Hub of East and West – the link between Africa and Asia - we need new ideas as well as pioneering initiatives to spread financial literacy and financial inclusion,” said Clairette Ah-Hen, Chief Executive of FSC. According to her, the Financial Literacy & Promoting Young Talent Competition is an event that looks towards development of a better future, focuses on young people who are called upon to be future leaders of the industry and reflects dynamism and innovative spirit of the staff of the Commission. The last date for application is January 27, 2012 while the closing date for submission of project/ research paper is March 27, 2012. The results will be published on April 27, 2012.

First Prize: One iPad per participant – Second Prize: Cash prize of Rs 5000 per participant
Category 3 (Post-Graduate Level) : First Prize: Publication of paper & one year contract as Research Officer – Second Prize: Publication of Paper
